Steel form decking is designed to be used as a form to support the weight of the concrete while it cures. It's not a composite metal decking.
Not the right type of Metal Decking? We offer a wide range of options.
Form decking is a corrugated metal that is used as a form to support the weight of structural concrete while the concrete slab cures. It's a popular choice because it's inexpensive and it does not need to be removed when the concrete has cured.
Both types of these types of metal decking are designed to support wet concrete, but there is one key difference. A composite floor deck has embossments in the flutes of the metal decking and that allows the concrete and the metal to bond and create a composite metal floor deck. This increases the strength of the floor and does not increase the weight of the floor. Metal form decking will not increase the strength of the floor system.
Shallow Vercor form deck is strong, light weight, economical, and easy to install. It's used either as a metal form decking to pour concrete, siding, or roofing. It should not be used as a composite metal floor deck system.
